Requirements

XcgfK is available for these (including more recent versions) platforms:

  • PalmOS 3.5
  • Windows 95
  • MacOS X 10.1
  • Symbian 8.0
  • WinCE 4.0
  • Linux 2.4
  • Solaris 8.0

XcgfK manages a cache for fast access of glyph data. The size needed for this cache varies depending on size and number of used fonts. Typical disk space needed for a desktop computer ranges from 1MB to 100MB, depending on the diversity of used fonts and languages. For a hand-held device, the cache may consist of read-only data (a ROM image) or persistent memory on a storage card. Typical size for a hand-held devices range from 128KB to 8MB.

Recommended hardware

  • 700 Mhz CPU (e.g. x86, m68k, sparc, ppc, arm)
  • 32 KB heap memory
  • 4 KB stack memory
  • 128 KB storage space for hand-held devices and 100 MB for dekstop computers.
  • 250 KB storage space for XcgfK core component.
  • 170 KB storage space for font format support [OPTIONAL].
  • 30 KB storage space for extended language support [OPTIONAL].
  • 125 KB storage space for text encoding support (e.g. Big5, CP1252) [OPTIONAL].

Please note that the text encoding support and the font format support are used for compatability reasons. A system would only need these system when not using the native xcgf file format. For example, in order to use a Chinese CID font, you would need the Big5 text encoding support and the PostScript font support. A low-end hand-held device would thus typically not be equipped with these optional components to save space.
